Student Activities


The students of the McGill Food Science Association can’t wait to welcome you to the beautiful city of Montreal! Don’t be a stranger. Visit them in booth 305 titled “Students helping Students” in the Exhibit Hall to find out more about the student evening events and don't forget to register for them.

During the congress, students are also welcome to use the Young Scientist and Student Room (room 514ab) to connect and share ideas and experiences. With more than 300 students attending, this congress is an ideal venue to make connections with peers from all around the world.

TIME TO LEARN

Start off strong and make friends on Day ONE! The Young Scientists and Students Workshop takes place on Sunday, August 17 from 09:00 to 12:30.Students can attend the IUFoST sessions on “Food Science and the Consumer – Developing Strategies to Communicate”, as well as the “IUFoST Forum / Town Hall Meeting”.

Three Departures leave from the Palais (Montreal Convention Centre) - meet in front of Tim Hortons – at 20:00, 20:30 and 21:00 OR meet us at Pub St-Paul (124 rue Saint-Paul Est) at 20:00

CIFST Organized Activities

As the Canadian host of the IUFoST World Congress, the student members of the Canadian Institute for Food Science and Technology are looking forward to welcoming you to Montreal.

The students of the McGill Food Science Association will host a Student Lounge in the EXPO and are also organizing evening activities. Stay tuned for more details.


Student Challenge CIFST Feature Event

  • The CIFST Student Challenge brings together food science students from across Canada to compete against each other in a test of their food science knowledge. The Jeopardy-style format will challenge students’ understanding in many fields of our flourishing industry. Each team consists of four students (of which one may be a Masters level graduate student), one school advisor and one industry sponsor. The competition takes place in Montreal on August 17th and 18th, 2014, as part of the 17th World Congress of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST 2014).
