Award Details
Each award includes the following benefits:
- complimentary congress registration pass
- social evening event ticket (Wednesday, August 20)
- cash stipend of $500
- access to affordable housing at a student residence close to the Palais des congrès (Convention Centre)
Disclaimer
The selected individuals will be responsible for their travel, ground transportation (taxis), meals, cost for visa application and other incidentals. It is highly recommended that the selected individuals take a travel insurance. Neither IUFoST, IUFoST 2014 Montreal Inc. nor its PCO will be responsible or liable for any medical expenses, lost luggage or other travel expenses.
Guidelines
- IUFoST 2014 developing country sponsorship awards are for students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty members or equivalent, traveling to the Congress from any country. Special consideration will be given to applicants from developing and emerging countries.

- Cash stipends in the amount of $500 are available to students, postdoctoral fellows and other scientists who need financial support to attend the IUFoST 2014 World Congress.
- By norm, the recipient of an award will be restricted to the presenter of an abstract.
- Women, minorities and scientists traveling from low income and low-middle income countries, and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply for support.
- The selection of recipients of all awards will be made by the scientific committee, based on the scientific merit of the abstract submitted for presentation and the described need as expressed in the cover letter.
- Award recipients will be notified by e-mail shortly after the selection of oral and poster presentations is completed by the scientific committee.
- All awards will be distributed at the Congress. In order to claim the award, the recipient must provide 2 proofs of identity (passport, national ID card, driver license, etc.).
- Award winners will be expected to attend in the Tuesday morning Plenary session during which they will be called on stage for an official award ceremony and group photo.
How to apply
Step 1 | during abstract submission
When submitting your abstract, you need to indicate on the abstract submission form that you are applying for an IUFoST 2014 Developing Country sponsorship award.
Step 2 | after abstract submission (by March 17)
Please send the following documents to our Awards Coordinator ()
- abstract ID # (see confirmation email)
- copy of your CV
- cover letter of approx. 100 words outlining the reasons why you require sponsorship to attend the IUFoST 2014 Congress
Only complete applications (abstract, CV and statement) will be reviewed.
Notification
Award winners will be notified on May 1, 2014. Winners will be expected to apply promptly for their visa.
Winners must confirm their approved visa with proof by July 1, 2014. In the event that a visa has been denied, the winner will forfeit his award and IUFoST 2014 will be able to offer this award to another candidate.
